Release 0.22.0

0.22.0: Character layouts for the moments between encounters

Arrange your party in a circle or travel line, focus on one character, and follow smoother turns and reveals in dm-screen.com 0.22.0.

Your party can gather in a circle or form a travelling line on the player screen in 0.22.0. Outside combat, you can also bring one character into focus without starting an encounter.

Set the scene outside combat

End combat mode on your DM screen to find Character list position. Choose Top for the familiar roster, Circle to arrange the party around the centre of the screen, or Travel for a line across it. The same character cards move between positions, keeping their status conditions and configured rotation.

Use Focus on a character’s tile to enlarge their card in the centre. When you focus someone else, the previous card returns to its place first. Unfocus sends the current character back to the group. Combat mode keeps the turn-based presentation.

Follow the action more easily

A hidden character becoming active in combat now arrives with a reveal animation before joining the roster. Conditions remain visible during the reveal, and character cards move more smoothly as turns advance. Soft shadows help them stand out against the map; longer names fit on one or two lines.

Map and character rotations are preserved across layouts, and scrolling over a read-only map no longer changes its zoom.

Rank purchases and subscription updates

New rank purchases use standard Stripe-hosted Checkout. Existing subscriptions keep their current billing treatment. Your monthly or yearly selection also stays in the page URL and is preserved when you return from Checkout.

Rank access now follows more subscription changes made in Stripe, including gifts, trials, fully discounted subscriptions, pauses, and historical prices. A finally failed initial delayed-payment purchase removes the associated rank access, while a stale failure notification cannot cancel a recovered payment.

The release archive now covers earlier releases with application screenshots, too. To try the new layouts, open your campaign’s DM screen and end combat mode. See the player-screen guide for help setting up a shared display.
